The HF is located in Parade Gardens, one of the target communities of the Safer Communities Programme (Fight for Peace – Jamaica) and was rewarded a grant to establish a green area on the school compound. Capoeira Alafia helped in conceptualizing, designing and constructing a Peace Garden in order to accommodate counseling of students who had been traumatized by violence and loss of family members due to gang war. Car tyre and plastic bottle recycling techniques were used to create a secluded safe space were children could relax and find peace. Volunteers from other communities helped during the construction and later to plant the garden. The school was able to secure a reward for this garden under a national school green space competition.
